ABOUT LABORATORY

The main research direction is focused on searching for novel biomarkers of cancer and development of diagnostic algorithms using high-throughput proteomic technologies. The research is mainly carried out on human serum/plasma. Extended serum/plasma banks for ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer as well as benign tumors have been collected and are stored in the laboratory. The basic approaches used for diagnostics methods development include MALDI-TOF (SELDI-TOF mass-spectral profiling), metabolomic profiling on Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer and 2D-electrophoresis.

The other field of research is investigation of bimolecular interactions using surface plasmon resonance. By using this method kinetic and thermodynamic constants can be measured. The area of investigation includes protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interactions.
