ABOUT LABORATORY

Laboratory of Chemical Genomic,  established in 2006, consists of 8 researches (the average age – 36 years). The acting lab chief – Sergey P. Radko, Ph.D.
The laboratory conducts research in two main directions:

  1. synthesis and selection of DNA-aptamers and photoaptamers to virus and human proteins of diagnostic and prognostic significance; molecular design highly effective affinity reagents based on aptamers for purposes of differential proteomics and clinical diagnostics;
  2. investigations in the field of genetics of mutifactorial diseases using SNP markers. The main area is to develop the SNP markers panel for estimation of personal predisposition to atopic bronchial asthma. Also, we investigate the influence of genetic factors on the development of psoriasis and cardiovascular diseases.
Methods and approaches employed are:
  • Synthesis and purification of modified oligonucleotides;
  • Analysis of aptamer-protein target interactions in solution and on solid phase surface;
  • Selection of aptamers in vitro to defined protein targets (method SELEX);
  • SNP genotyping using primer extension approach and MALDI-TOF mass-spectrometry.
