Biomedical Chemistry

Russian
Journal
Information for
Authors:
"Biomedical chemistry" journal publishes works in all sections of biological and medical chemistry, and also adjacent sciences. The completed original works (up to 15 typewritten pages, including an illustrative material and the list of the literature), containing new experimental results, the methodical works including both the description of new methods of biochemical researches, and new laboratory diagnostic tests are accepted to the publication.
The journal publishes reviews ordered by editorial board (or offered by authors and approved by editorial board) on actual problems of biomedical chemistry and adjacent sciences (up to 30 typewritten pages, including an illustrative material and the list of the literature).
Works of priority character (2,5-3 thousand words), containing no more than 3 illustrations, are published as Brief messages in 2-4 months after acceptance for publishing.
Chronicles of the congresses, conventions, conferences and discussions on pressing questions of biomedical chemistry are published in journal.
The manuscript should be printed in two intervals on a white paper (A4format, 297x210mm) on the one side of page. The text should take 29-30 lines, left margin is 25 mm. All pages should be numbered. Either figure, photo or table should be specified at the left margin of the text. Correction, addition, or continuation of the text or tables as the pasted sheets to the basic pages of the manuscript is not allowed. A format of any page (text, tables, figures) should not exceed standard.
Pay attention to the structure of articles accepted to publication: first page of article begins with an index of UDC, then the name of the article printed by capital letters, following the initials and surnames of the authors, the detailed names of scientific institutes (with a mark where each of authors works). The post address, phone numbers and faxes, and also the e-mail address are specified only for establishment in which the author, responsible for the correspondence with editorial board and all interested persons (readers), works. Further the key words (no more than 6) follow. The second page contains only the resume (no more than 0,5 - 1 typewritten page).
The text of the article should be divided by sections: 1) Introduction, 2) the Methods, 3) Results and discussion, 4) the Conclusions, 5) the Indication of grant financing sources of the given work (if those are available), 6) the List of the literature. For original articles the list of the literature should not exceed 20-25 works. The journal accepts the consecutive system of citing when during the statement the serial number of the quoted source appropriate to the number in the list of the literature is underlined in square brackets. The list of the literature should contain: the Surname, the First name and the Patronymic name of authors in italics, year of the edition, (in brackets), the Name of journal (the monography, the collected articles, publishing house and the place of publishing), Volume (in thick print), (in brackets the issue of release if each release-volume accepts its own pagination), numbering of the first and the last page of quoted work.
Examples of citing of various references are given below:

Monographies:

Dissertations and authors’ abstracts of dissertations:
Karuzina I.I. (1999) Self-inactivation of cytochromes Ð450 at chemical reduction and in the process of
catalysis. Dissertation, Doctor of Science, Scientific research institute of biomedical chemistry of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow.

of comparative genome analysis. Abstract. Dissertation, candidate of science, Scientific research institute of biomedical chemistry of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow.
The numerical material should be processed statistically and given in the form of tables. Tables are numbered by the order of their mention in the text in the Arabic numerals. All columns in tables and tables should be titled and divided by vertical and horizontal lines.
Tables, figures and signatures are to be represented on separate sheets in book variant. Figures are given as originals in one copy (top and bottom is indicated) not less 5õ6 sm and not more 18õ24 sm. Each figure should be performed in black ink on white paper or in the computer listing executed on the laser printer, 300 dpi definition. Tracing-paper figures are accepted, if there is no inscriptions on the back side. The figure should be precise, inscriptions are marked according to the text. The author’s name and figure ordinal number should be specified on the face side of figure. Photos are given on not-embossed paper in one copy without damages (if there is any designation in photos, one should submit the second clean copy, but not a xerocopy). On the back side of figures the author’s name and figure ordinal number should be indicated in soft pencil.
Besides figures, their electronic version as files should be given. The following rules are required for figures: format TIFF, 600 dpi, 256 grey colour cast is used for raster figures; vector figures should be represented in the format of the origin program: CoreDraw, Adobe Illustrator, FreeHand or EPS format; TIFF format not less than 300 dpi is used for photos; if the program is not widespread, it is necessary to save in WMF, EPS, DOC format; graphic files should follow the order and the article they belong to. Each file should contain one figure.
All formulas, physical, mathematical symbols, structures of organic compounds and mathematical equations should be typed in computer. Uniform marking of formulas, hyphen symbols, italics should be fulfilled by special designations in all materials. It’s preferable to avoid the mixed use of Russian and latin indexes, indexes should be deciphered (in brackets or by context). Capital and small letters with identical spelling should be underlined in pencil: capital letters - below, small letters - on top.
Reductions used in the article should be deciphered at the first mention in the text. There is no need to decode standard symbols of amino acids which can be written in one- or trigram designations, the nitrogen bases, nucleosides, nucleotides, typed in latin letters, for example: A1a (alanine), G (guanine), dA (deoxyadenosine), AMP, ADP, ATP (adenosine mono-, di- and triphosphate respectively), NADP.
Physical units and symbols accepted in the International System of Units should be used and relative atomic masses of elements according to 12C scale. It is necessary to specify authors of used programs in computation works. The use of IUPAC terminology is required for different chemical compounds.
Concentrations of substances in solutions should be represented in M, mM, mcM, nM, etc. In case of representation of concentration in %, the author should specify the calculation of percentage in weight, volume or weight /volume. For example, 1 % (weight / volume) means that 100 ml of solution contain 1 gram of substance.
The electronic variant of article represented (floppy disk of 3,5 inches) in the format not lower than MS WORD 6.0 for WINDOWS, should fully comply with printed variant.
Except for the Russian text on a separate sheet, the initials and surnames of authors are to be typed in English transcription. The article title, names of establishments with the post and electronic address, and also phone numbers and faxes of the author, responsible for correspondence, and also key words and the text of the resume should be translated into English.
The article should be signed by all authors. Two copies of article should be sent to the editorial board together with the electronic version on the floppy disk.
The editorial board reserves the right to reduce articles irrespectively of their volume.
Representation of the article for the publication in "Biomedical chemistry" journal means the consent of authors with the published rules.
